So,
have you ever looked in the almanac and noticed a section on
associations? They have an association for everything under the
sun. Which leads me to the discussion this week. You know those
big piles of rock and sand you see along the nations highways
that belong to the state transportation offices? We’ll get back
to the associations in a minute. Anyway, I go to thinking about
who keeps up with those big piles of sand, rock and gravel. It
would most likely be either an engineer or an accountant in
charge of keeping track of that stuff, wouldn’t you imagine?
This means they
probably have some national association of some sort, right?
Perhaps it’s called the American Society of State Owned Dirt
Piles. Anyway, if they have an association and you can bet they
do, then this means they have to have annual meetings in exotic
places such as Las Vegas or Tulsa. Well maybe not Tulsa, I just
threw that in to see if you were listening, or reading….
If they have
these annual events then it only stands to reason that they have
to have seminars with speakers, so we thought these would most
likely look something like this:

There you have it, another association with who knows how many
members throughout the country? I bet they even have a monthly
magazine probably sent to all members with some snappy title
like…”Here’s Your Dirt!”
I know you are
saying this is silly, but I challenge you to look in your phone
book under associations and see what I’m talking about. I’ll bet
you find as many of them amusing as I have. Which makes you
wonder what all they actually do.
